Why a heat pump
The same heat for about 25% of the electricity of an electric water heater.
Electricity per unit of heat at rated conditions. Real-world results vary with climate, inlet water temperature and usage.
A fraction of the electricity
Moves heat from the air instead of making it. At its rated COP, every 1 kWh of electricity delivers about 4.0 kWh of heat.
No fuel on site
No diesel or LPG to buy, store or handle, and no flame or flue gases at your premises.
Day and night, in any weather
Draws heat from the air, so output doesn't depend on sunshine. Rated to operate from −7 to 45 °C.
Ready for solar power
Runs on electricity, so rooftop solar can supply part of its power. It can also replace the electric backup of a solar water heater.
Hot water up to 60 °C
Heats water steadily into an insulated storage tank, so hot water is ready when your demand peaks.
Sized for your peak hour
Our engineers size the heat pump and storage tank together for your busiest hour, not just the daily total.
How it works
- 1
Absorb
A fan draws outdoor air over the evaporator, where refrigerant absorbs its heat.
- 2
Compress
The compressor raises the refrigerant's pressure and temperature.
- 3
Transfer
In the condenser the refrigerant releases that heat into your water.
- 4
Repeat
The expansion valve lowers the pressure and the cycle starts again.

How much hot water do you need each day?
An indicative starting point from rated hot-water output. An engineer confirms the final selection.
- Size the storage tank for your peak hour, such as morning check-outs, not only the daily total.
- Output falls as the air gets colder; sites with cold winters may need a larger model or more storage.
- A backup heater or an existing boiler can cover the coldest mornings.

FAQ
Common questions
How is a heat pump different from a solar water heater?
A solar water heater collects heat from sunlight, so its output depends on the weather. A heat pump draws heat from the air using a compressor and works day and night. Many sites use both: solar for the daytime load and a heat pump in place of electric backup.
Does it work in winter and during the monsoon?
Yes, within its rated working ambient range of −7 to 45 °C. Output falls as the air gets colder, so we size the system for your coldest season.
Do I need a storage tank?
Yes. A heat pump heats water steadily over several hours into an insulated tank, which then meets your peak draw. Our engineers specify the heat pump and tank together.
Can it run on solar power?
It runs on standard electricity (single-phase for domestic models, three-phase for commercial models), so a rooftop solar PV system can supply part of its power.
What maintenance does it need?
Periodic checks as set out in the manufacturer's manual, including keeping the outdoor air coil clean and unobstructed. Ask us about service support for your site.
